The Secondary Cities Rainwater Sanitation Project (PAPVS) aims at the realization in the short, medium and long term, in the secondary cities, of primary drainage works of runoff water towards the appropriate outlets. The objective of this project is to mitigate floods and their impacts. It focuses on the cities of Porto-Novo, Abomey-Calavi, Bohicon, Abomey, Ouidah, Sèmè-Kpodji, Parakou and Natitingou and will eventually reduce the prevalence of water-borne diseases caused by flooding. It will facilitate the movement of goods and people and induce a significant growth of local economic activities. This project is essential for the full implementation of the Asphaltage project, the first phase of which is almost complete, consists of the rehabilitation and development of urban roads in the above-mentioned cities.
