The Agricultural Development and Market Access Support Project (PADAAM) aims to strengthen food security and increase the income of rural populations. It will therefore support the three conventional sectors – rice, maize and cassava – to help: i) fill the food deficit with regards to the domestic demand for rice; ii) maintain and increase the added value of maize and cassava in association with the private sector, while developing trade within the sub-regional market. The PADAAM, which will be implemented over the 2018-2025 period and financed in part by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), advocates a paradigm shift towards sustainable value addition through the promotion of inclusive economic partnerships linking small-scale producers and their organisations to the private sector and the market, in the three priority sectors.
