In progress
On the African continent, the dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic are putting a strain on health systems and inducing significant financial needs to mitigate the consequences of restrictive measures. With its financial architecture built around two major banking institutions (BCEAO and BOAD), WAEMU intends to federate the efforts of the subregional financial system to respond to the crisis. This joint action prefigures a deepening of regional economic integration, while presenting itself as a lever to transform the zone’s development trajectory. Through this project, AFD intends to support public development banks through three components.
