Agricultural Development and Market Access Support Project (PADAAM)

The aim of the Agricultural Development and Market Access Support Project (PADAAM) is to strengthen food security and increase the incomes of rural populations. It will therefore support the three conventional sectors – rice, maize and cassava – to help:

i) fill the food gap in terms of domestic demand for rice;

ii) maintain and increase added value for maize and cassava in conjunction with the private sector, while developing trade with the sub-regional market.

PADAAM, which will be implemented over the period 2018-2025 and financed in part by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), advocates a paradigm shift focused on the sustainable creation of added value through the promotion of inclusive economic partnerships linking small-scale producers and their organisations to the private sector and the market, in the three priority commodity chains.
